Masturbation Lubrications - What Kind?

Many men and women want to know what they can use from around their house to lube the penis, vagina or anus for their masturbation experiences. Lubrication can be a good thing, especially if you have sensitive skin or if you use a vigorous masturbation technique. However, there are many men and women who never use any lubrication. Some people use lube only with certain techniques. But others masturbate only while using lube regardless of the masturbation method.

Although we are not required by law to present the following information, we felt obligated to create a table of danger levels when it comes to using lubrications to accompany this Masturbation Site.   • Hand lotions, dry skin lotions, etc. As long as it is intended for skin contact, it is OK to try. However, some lotions may leave the skin crusty or leathery (depending on the person). Lotions with Aloe tend to be more the popular than other lotions for masturbation. There are many skin safe lubricants. When using lubricants with additives such as Aloe, it is important to wash the penis or vagina afterwards.
  • Many men and women have masturbated with food related products as lubrications. Some find that cooking oil works OK. Other people find that many food products are sticky or cause a burning sensation on the tips of the penises or inside the vaginas. (Don't use hot sauce!). In general, you won't do any permanent damage from experimenting with food products on penises or vaginas. Use good judgment -- If it starts to sting, burn, or irritate the skin, wash it off right away.
  • Vaseline brand petroleum jelly is relatively safe for the skin, but not really recommended for masturbation. It is a mess and does not feel that great to most people. Never use it with a condom when having sexual intercourse. It ruins condoms and makes them useless.
  • Baby oil or related products are OK, but usually smelly and can get messy.
  • Sun-tan and sun-burn remedy lotions have had mixed results depending on the person and the specific product. Noxima and "cold creams" are in this category.
  • Do not use these with Fleshlight products.

  • Soaps and shampoos generally won't harm you in the long term, but many soaps and shampoos cause some short-term burning sensations in the tips of many mens' penises or inside the womens' vaginas. The feeling can become quite painful for up to a few hours. If this does occur, you do not need to go to the hospital emergency room. Do not call 911 (in the U.S.) or 999 (in the U.K.). It is not life threatening, but you can expect to feel some mild to moderate discomfort or pain for a while. Men may feel pain for up to a couple of days when they urinate or masturbate.
  • Do not use these with Fleshlight products.

  • Sugary substances like pancake syrup, cherry juices, fruit extracts, thick creams, etc. are really sticky. They always need to be washed off to prevent foul odor. They also do not serve as "good lubrication" because they do not decrease friction very well.
  • Sodas, lemonade, liquors, wines, beer. They do not work well, and some can cause temporary yet very painful burning sensations.
  • Rubbing alcohol is simply not made for "masturbation rubbing".
  • Deodorant, antiperspirant, hair care products, hair gel, etc., are not very good either and may cause skin irritation problems.
  • We do not recommend the use of masturbation products that promise to cause your penis to "stay erect longer" or "make your penis bigger". These are often sold as lubrication creams, foams, and lotions . They often numb the nerves in the penis and may have unknown long-term complications if used often.
  • Do not use these with Fleshlight products.
